Marcus Haney started his career as a music photographer and documentary filmmaker by sneaking into music festivals and capturing footage.

After his DIY beginnings, Haney was given a legitimate job when Mumford & Sons asked him to join their Railroad Revival Tour. In 2018, Marcus joined the migrant caravan at Mexico’s Southern border, befriended several of the migrants and joined them on their tumultuous journey from Guatemala to the US border. Spike Lee caught wind of Marcus’ documentary photos/film and got on board to finance and co-produce his next feature about his experiences. Marcus used a portion of the film’s budget to pay for legal fees of migrants he had followed who crossed the border and have since been detained by ICE.

His work in advertising includes a Subway campaign that debuted during the 2018 Winter Olympics and several campaigns for Lincoln featuring Matthew McConaughy.
